Like its predecessors, Windows XP, Vista, 7, Windows 8.1 has reached its End of Support date. The last date Microsoft will issue patches to the OS will be January 10, 2023. After that date, hackers know newly discovered vulnerabilities will not be fixed, meaning your online experience will be at risk. Some of you will say who cares, I don't do this or I don't do that. Well you should care! You have become the weak link. All of our homes have networked equipment and an entry point is an entry point. (Windows 8 ended support back in 2016)

A number of Window 8 machines can very comfortably run Windows 10 and Windows 10, this summer will be seven years old, so yes it is stable. It is also running on more that 700 million machines.

There maybe a need to update some of your software to work with Windows 10 but costs can be kept under control by using free open source software.

Windows 10 will run on machines built for 7 or 8 and while I would not recommend using these devices, it just shows how robust the operating system has become.

There is also the possibility that you can get Windows 10 from Microsoft at no charge if you act promptly. How long the software will remain free is unknown however it is safe to assume at some point this give away will cease.

We offer a detailed analysis of your current machine and software to assess if the conversion is recommended and what it will cost.
